...For those 10 minutes after you’ve spent 4 hours detailing the car
CTS-V wagon for your time
And after one day of driving...
But oh so worth it. That is all.

There are very few cars I think look best in black. The one currently made one that jumps to mind is the 300.

S63 AMG, you know it’s someone important powerful and rich (and possibly Russian) when someone rolls up in a black, fully tinted one.

The only cars that manage to stay clean-looking are dirt-coloured cars.

Oh so worth it. Crystal Black lives up to its name when it’s clean.

Yeah, those cars were made to be black.
I got a Civic in black, and I swear to God I can never get it perfect. I’ve debated those black car kits from chemical guys because I'm sick of seeing swirl marks when I'm done.

Get “Black Diamond”, loaded with silvery Aluminium flakes, so it turns G rey when dirty:
(this was the afternoon in late March that I just bought the car, taken at Banff, as I was driving across the Rockies in order to get it home)
Matter of fact, every time I drive in our Street Legal Drag Races, the PA Announcer called my car Grey >:-(

I look after a colleague’s black ninth gen Honda Civic. It’s swirl free, you just have to be more careful when cleaning as most swirls and micromarring are i nflicted in the wash process.
A good prewash (snow foam or citrus spray) prior to a gentle two bucket wash will pay dividends into keeping it swirl free.
But even some swirls aren’t the end of the world.

From the washing process, you say? Wouldn't have guessed that, but now I'm interested to see. Thanks!

The idea of snow foams, etc... is to reduce physical contact when the car is at it’s dirtiest and most susceptible to damage, when drying.
Snow foams and citrus sprays can remove up to 90-95% of dirt before you physically have to come into contact with the car. The contact is still required with a gentle wash mitt to remove ‘traffic film’ (benzene deposits, oils, etc... churned up from the road). Drying can have the harmful contact reduced by using a microfibre towel and gently dragging the towel across the car. If you have rather soft paint you can use a air blower to force the water off the car or use the towel to pat the car dry. Drying aids are also a way to go as they reduce the amount of water left on the car to dry.
Strangely one of the best ways to remove a lot of the water is to use an open end hose pipe and allow the water to gently run over the car. Letting the gentle running water gather up the water beads on the vehicle and run off.

I agree with “300 looks good in black”

An often overlooked advantage of black is when someone buys your old black car and has to do bodywork at home, black is by far the easiest to match and blend in of the colors out there.
Thanks, guy who ordered my rust project car 17 years ago!

That reminds me, I need to buy some touch up paint. Noticed when I was detailing my car- Rock chips and scratches galore!

I do too, but in the winter it’s tough to get motivated to freeze my fingers for a car that’s just going to get dirty again on the next drive
